Debating competition at Laude Fontenebro

9th June 17

On Thursday 8th June, four students from year 10 took part in the first Laude inter-school debating competition at Laude Fontenebro school in Madrid.
Aida Benet, Sammy-Lee van den Berg, David Racovita and Ilan Sasson, accompanied by Mr Marcos, departed our school very early in the morning and joined representatives from all 7 Laude schools in Spain.
Our students debated about various topics such as:
Should parents be allowed to choose their baby’s gender? Should Spain give foreign aid to other countries? Are diet companies in the business to make a profit and not to help people? Should people be fined for not recycling? is it unethical to eat meat? Should renewable forms of energy be subsidized by the government?
Our school won two of these debates and Ilan Sasson was given a special commendation for his sharp and convincing debating skills. Well done Ilan and well done Aida, Sammy-Lee and David for your hard work in preparation for these debates!
