Los Niños - los Reyes de la Casa
On Monday 19th March we had the Marbella Radio TV team at school. Our students were filmed in action for their programme “Los Niños, los Reyes de la Casa” (The Children, the Majesties of the House). The students had a great time and enjoyed answering questions presented by the journalist Alejandra Gómez. During these three days of filming, Primary also celebrated the Arts Mash 2012.
Here are the programme's video clips:
Year 4 performing the Haka dance
The Haka is a traditional ancestral war cry, dance or challenge from the Māori people of New Zealand. It is a posture dance performed by a group, with vigorous movements and stamping of the feet with rhythmically shouted accompaniment.
Year 4 learnt a short haka dance and song (in the original language) as part of our recent dance module in P.E. We think our performances would have made the Maoris proud. Miss Middleton and Mr. de Comarmond were certainly proud teachers. Enjoy.
Laude's Got Talent
We have so many talented children in this school. Anyone who has attended any of our Key Stage productions or the Danzart Concerts will have seen just how confident and multi talented the pupils in this school are. For a bit of fun we decided to hold a talent show. The auditions were held back in March and during the holidays the pupils selected worked hard to perfect their acts. The show took place last night and there was a...
DANZART "The Wizard of OZ"
Danzart is a group of talented young performers at Laude San Pedro International College, led by Karen Felici–Guanieri. Danzart is the catalyst for inspiring a unique whole school experience which draws together children from the ages of 6 to 16 linking the primary and secondary school in a celebration of the power of Performing Arts. On the 28th and 29th of March 2012, the Laude Gymnasium was transformed by Danzart into a full scale performing arts arena that transported its delighted audiences over the rainbow and all the way to Broadway with a spectacular adaptation of the all time classic; Wizard of Oz.
We are always trying to improve our school, and we welcome suggestions from our stakeholders of how we might do this. If you have something helpful to suggested, please feel free to click here and leave your suggestion in the box. You can remain anonymous, but if you want to add your name and email, we will reply to you. All suggestions are brought to the attention of the Director and the Senior Management Team
Year 9 Food Technology students were celebrating Andalusia Day last Friday by making Paella in their Food Technology lessons. Here we see Markian, Ryan, Georgina, Phoebe, Daniel and Monica with their final produce. Food Technology is a compulsory subject at Key Stage 3 for all our students and is optional at GCSE and A level. In addition to celebrating Andalucía Day, the students have also celebrated the Chinese New Year (with sweet & sour chicken) and Shrove Tuesday (with pancakes) during the past month.
The Sacred Childhoods Foundation is a charity very close to us at Laude San Pedro because Natalia who is the founder of the charity is the daughter of a former Maths teacher at the school, Susan Perry.
We always choose a charity to support which will result in the lives of children being enhanced by our fundraising. Throughout the year we organize events to raise sums both small and large and we ask that these donations go towards a substantial, named project.
This week saw Laude host its second Maths Olympiad, an event whose draw is now reaching to schools at the very extremes of the Costa – all the way from Sotogrande to Almuñecar. A further five schools came to enjoy the day: Mayfair, BIC, St. George’s, St. Anthony’s and Swans, with students mixed up in teams named after famous Mathematicians.
On the 27th of October, the new kitchen classroom in Laude San Pedro International College was inaugurated. There were different celebrities, parents, teachers and students present.
Our guest of honour was the famous Chef from Marbella, owner of two Michelin stars, Dani García. During the act, he cut the ribbon that gave access to the cooking installations and then spoke to the students who are currently studying Food Technology. He spoke briefly of his life, of his great passion for cooking and of his personal preparation of dishes in his creative and innovative workshop in Marbella.
After his talk, he kindly answered all the questions formulated. And as a special treat, he will invite students with the highest grades to visit the kitchen of his Restaurant Calima in Marbella.
Laude San Pedro International College is the only school on the Coast who has a complete kitchen set up as a classroom for practical use of the above-mentioned subject.
Laude San Pedro International College has run out of superlatives to describe Danzart’s interpretation of the King of Lions!!
There were 95 pupils from both the primary and secondary school, aged from 5 to 15 involved with performance which was absolutely spectacular. The costumes, the setting and scenery, the makeup, the drama and of course the dancing. It was simply breathtaking.
